I am 16 years old. I just survived severe cancer. My parents tell me that I'm so lucky to be alive and they will not let me get a wig. It's so sad. They want me to be proud to be different. What should I say to my parents to let me get a wig? This is a question for parents of teenage girls.?
In your place, I'd want a wig until my hair grew back. This is a question for parents of teenage girls.?
I'm not trying to make you feel bad but most parents know what's best. If you want hair that desperately just start screaming and crying
Understand that your hair will grow back and probably thicker but I'm with you about this.
Girls and women are intended to have beautiful hair and teens hate to be seen as different.
Show my answer to mom and dad and ask them to reconsider and get a wig so you won't be so uncomfortable among strangers
There could be a couple of reasons, one they are extremely expensive, one that looks natural. It is unfair for your parents to not allow you to wear a wig. This isn't a matter of you being ashamed, but simply wanting to feel good about yourself. Ask your parents if they will shave their heads or get their hair styled like yours. If they say no, then tell them for the same reason you won't shave your head is why I want a wig. You should contact your chemo nurses and tell them how you feel, I bet they can get your parents to bend. You are old enough to know how you want your hair to be, regardless of being a cancer survivor.
