What do you think about the issue in ';teenage pregnancy';?

I just want to know if what other people think about this issue because we're currently conducting a social case analysis in social science. What do you think about the issue in ';teenage pregnancy';?
Hello Dears,

The life of a 'Teenager' is the most exciting period of all stages in growing up.From the age of nine a Muslim girl has to guard herself and the boy ,right from the age of twelve.Once matured, there is no way of crying over spilt milk.

Hence, a child has to be guided all the way,it may not be acceptable by the child, but the parent has to do the duty of educating the child as soon as possible, the mother does this well enough and once the boy grows to be sixteen, then his dad should take over and start talks about 'sex' and how it can ruin a life if not taken seriously.

I have four boys and they are all grown up men today, even their underwear was never given to the laundry they washed it by themselves, for fear of catching veneral desease.

Both, the father and myself have taught them right from young that if they give their word to a girl, then alone should they go ahead with plans of gettign married.Never to go above the limit, its precious and most enjoyable once married. They have all four followed the rules and on finishing schooling ,entered their degree course, on the third month, they got engaged.Right after their degree, we fixed the wedding dates, each got a job and held on to the job while getting married.Once, this was done, they came out to the gulf, and on completion of their probation period, applied for the resident visa of the wife, and brought her to the gulf.

I don't see any reason in getting panicky or other wise, there is a time and a place for everything in life.Be you a Westerner,European or an Asian, certain 'Principles' in life must be planted right from young. In stray cases ,there are mishaps but that does not mean all should follow these mishaps.Good grooming and space to grow up will never let a child do the wrong thing.Constant guidance and watch is the best method to help avoid childhood pregnancy.

Even if by chance a child happens to get pregnant, the world has to accept this mistake and come forward and help to clean up where some one went wrong, you can't ignore the child, no , as responsible parents, we can argue to do the right thing, bring up the baby till the mother is ready to take care of the baby.As a mother , no mother would like to harm the infant,no way! I am sure the pregnant daughter would be guarded and in turn respected by the one she gave her self to.We grown up parents must stand by them , till they can decide whats best for themselves and the little baby within.

All three of my boys got married to their childhood sweet hearts and they are still happily married with children as well.

My fourth boy has just started eighteen, he will leave home and leave his girlfriend *four years steady* to go to Melbourne for his higher studies, she studies at the American University at Sharjah. She has accepted for him to go so far away and she will follow once she completes her studies, being the only girl for her parents.I appreciate how they have decided on staying far from each other to study well -and then make a life of thier own.Love for the parents count, its how we parents bring up our children, they can never think of doing anything wrong, or upsetting the family rules and regulations, knowing our love for them is very deep and for their best always. We Indian Parents have great power over the youthful feelings of our young.Praise the Almighty for this.

Barbara Ali,

*Freelance Social Worker. What do you think about the issue in ';teenage pregnancy';?
I don't think the government's ';abstinence only'; sex ed programs help....that's like saying don't push the red button.

I think all we can do is inform teenagers of preventative measures the best we can. I was lucky to grow up in a household where i could freely talk to my mother about sex and not be worried that she'd kill me if i went on birth control....but not everyone else is so lucky. I think it's important to stress Family Planning as a resource for pregnancy prevention. And i think it's also important to stress that once you have a kid, your life is not your's anymore...Maybe we should have them sit in a room full of screaming babies for an hour and tell them to get used to it. Listening to a kid cry in the grocery store is usually enough birth control for me, haha.
I admire very much the answer of Miss barbara.I think that is the best answer. The parents are really the best guide to their children from the beginning of life until they become matured persons. Thanks a lot ,Miss barbara. I hope other parents will be enlightened too.
teen pregnancy is common but generally brings down the parents professional potential because they must spend time and money on their kid rather than college or working towards job promotion.
i dont think its a bad thing. why do so many do? we must assist these people in becomeing good parents
Its Totally parents Ignorance...
make them understand seriously
Don't breed em if you can't feed em.

I think society's efforts to be 'non judgmental' exacerbates the problem.

Seriously, would it be so hard to say ';You shouldn't risk making babies if you can't support them?'; instead of having reality shows with 4 women trying to out $lut each other to get some guy?
Teenage pregnancy is not caused by parental ignorance as Banti suggested. Teenagers have a mind of their own no matter what the parents tell them. If the parents choose to ignore the possibilities of their teenagers becoming pregnant there are other ways teenagers are informed about getting pregnant. In my case, my 16 yr old is 2 months pregnant. I have tried everything in the world to inform her about pregnancy. She was constantly chaperoned when she went out on a date. I made it clear to her if she wanted to be trusted she had to show she could be trusted. Short of locking her into her room, I did all I could. Well she ended up pregnant anyways. They will find a way no matter what.
