I don't mind looking after 'something' every now and then but mostly I want her to realise that pets are no different to having human beings (kids)My teenage daughter wants a pet, I don't. Knowing she won't look after it, is there a compromise?
Just tell her that every time you have to look after the pet she wanted, you take something else of hers away. She wants the responsibility, she better learn the pet has to come first. Not friends, cell phones, computers, etc... Only school and home work are prioritized higher. My teenage daughter wants a pet, I don't. Knowing she won't look after it, is there a compromise?
Get a leaflet about pet insurance, show her how much it cost each year, then the cost of food, injections (not covered by insurance) bedding and stuff for the pet then ask her how she is going to pay you back, and what will happen to the pet when you all go on vacation.
It's ok to be a mean mother in the long run it will be worth it.
i know im 14 and i've been nagging my dad for a puppy for ages!
Tell her the realities of it,
it has to be fed, washed, time spent with is...especially if you only get one.
and if its a dog its gotta be walked
say if u don't look after it properly I'll give it way or something any ways that's my advice lol
=)
I understand you my mom told all these things to me before we bought our first pet and it really worked!!! I looked after it the way moters look after their children
so go and tell all these stuff to her and for it to be more certain that she will look after the pet: make her sign a piece of paper,it would be more serious
the best way to deal with it is
say ok ill let you have this pet if you are going to look after it clean feed ............etc etc
if the pet dies dont ask me for another animal till you have your own place and are willing to look after it yourself
There is a way to compromise. Tell her to go get a job at a pet store or volunteer at a zoo.
