The people I want to get gifts for are about 16 - 17 years old females.

Most girls love shopping so there's nothing wrong with getting them a gift card for a clothing store. Maybe pick out a cute clutch purse to put it in, or find at least one clothing item for them to actually unwrap.





Other than that music and movies are always a good bet. A lot of girls in that age-range are fans of Twilight. If this is true for them, grab the movie soundtrack. It has a lot of rock music as well as instrumentals. The new Taylor Swift album is also very good.





You could try a theme present. For my dorm's Secret Santa I bought supplies to create a spa party: Inflatable foot bath, lotion, nail polish, chocolate, etc...
A great gift Idea for any age or gender is to find or write a poem, or favorite music lyrics, type it up and print it out on nice paper, then burn the edges, and put it in a nice picture frame.
